Sabre Wasp (Ephialtes manifestator) Egg Laying

27th September 2015
This is just another short video clip showing a sabre wasp laying eggs deep in rotten wood. These wasps have an extremely long ovipositor which probes deep into the wood and lays eggs on beetle grubs which it has first located with sensors on its antenna. The eggs will hatch and use the beetle grubs as a food source.
