Stress Free Seals

After many years of avoiding seal photography due to pressure on habits and irresponsible photography I head to a place that allows the photographer good views of a seal colony while allowing the seals to decide how close they want to approach Newburgh Beach is located a few miles north of Aberdeen and is a great location for seals, eider duck and many waders. Find out how I get on in this week's video.

The Red Deer Rut 2022 Near Sheffield!

After visiting Big Moor near Sheffield for the last few years to photograph the red deer rut, an amazing location and experience by the way, this year I wanted to try something different. My plan this time was to get up there before sunrise and not only image and film the deer but this time take along sound recording equipment to give you the sounds of the rut as well. I have to say I arrived before sunrise in blue hour and I can only describe the noise as like being in a church tower listening to a peel of bells as one male after another roared with a slightly different tone. I suspect I was a little awe struck as I had never witnessed sound like this before at any rut. Great you might say but all did not go to plan!

Stalking Woodland Wildlife

This time I head for a local woodland to try and get images of the wildlife there. I also show you the kit I use for stalking wildlife and why I use it as well as discussing some of the techniques I use.

My Final Review of the Sony FE 200-600 G Lens. Is it any good?

After buying the Sony 200-600 lens over 18 months ago I decided I was well over due to let you know my final thoughts on this lens. Would I recommend it? What I like and what I don't like. By the way this is not a review of the edge to edge sharpness at various focal lengths this is just a wildlife photographers perspective on what the lens is like to use and does it produce the results I want. After using lens from Nikon Canon and Sony over the years how does this one stack up?

How to Photograph Wildlife in the Aftermath of a Heat Wave

After temperatures over thirty degrees for days I took a break from photography not only because it was simply too hot to get out but also to acknowledge that the wildlife would also be suffering in this extreme heat. As temperatures started to drop I headed out of my back door to see what I could see.
