Its been almost ten years since I sold my astrophotography kit. At the time I was using an extremely heavy mount and telescope combination that didn't fit in with my desire to travel light. Instead I concentrated on my wildlife and landscape photography. With the new lightweight travel mounts on the market I decided now was a great time to give one of these small versatile mounts a go. And so begins the journey of re-learning everything I thought I knew and perhaps even getting over my phobia of the hours spent processing in front of that computer screen. This week I introduce you to some of the kit I am going to be using before getting on with the full setup of the Skywatcher Star Adventurer in the coming weeks.
So You Want To Be A Wildlife Photographer Part 4
In the last part of this mini series I take my budget setup of a Nikon D3200 and Tamron 70-300 lens away from shooting birds/animals around the garden and out into my local area. Hopefully this video demonstrates that even with an entry level setup (remember this cost me £300) You can still begin to enjoy wildlife photography and take some stunning images. Please comment and let me know what you think.
Bird Photography RSPB Langford Lowfields
My latest Youtube video is up and running. This week I head Langford Lowfields for some birds in flight shots. One of those days where you battle the weather but the results of sticking at it make it all worthwhile. Hope you enjoy it and as always give me a thumbs up and subscribe if you haven't.
Photography Courses Update (Covid 19)
Finally after over a year of not taking bookings for my photography courses and 1-2-1 days I think it’s now safe to begin running some of them again.
Initially I am now taking bookings for 1-2-1 sessions for beginners, landscape photography and wildlife photography. To do this safely I will be wearing a mask throughout the day and also taking precautions with the use of hand sanitizers etc. I think by doing it this way and not looking to run group sessions pulling in many people from different areas we are staying within the rules and I can still offer an enjoyable day allowing the client to learn in a one to one environment. If you are interested please book in the normal way through this website. If you have other requirements please contact me via email, through the contact form on this website or via my mobile 07791426742. I look forward to seeing you.
Why I Switched to the Sony 200-600 G For Wildlife Photography
This weeks Youtube video is now live. This week I explain my reasons behind switching to a new wildlife photography lens. I also give you my first impressions of the Sony 200-600 G mounted on the Sony A6400 with my first few example shots. I'm really excited to shoot with this lens over the coming year and share the shots on my youtube channel. As always give the video a thumbs up and subscribe if you haven't! All the best, Scott.
Sony A6400 and Tamron 150-600 G2 Focus Fail Fixed!
In this weeks video I finally solve the focusing issue I had with my Sony A6400 paired to a canon mount Tamron 150-600 G2. I had my suspicions that the Sigma MC-11 adaptor may be to blame and with this in mind I tried the combination out with a Metabones Mk IV adaptor. In this video I explain how I have found this setup works and any issues I have noticed with it. I also show you some of the images I have produced with this setup over a very limited time. I am very happy with the combination so far and can recommend it as a good lightweight wildlife setup.
